This glossary provides definitions for terms and features found within the Growave platform. Whether you're exploring our Rewards, Reviews, Wishlist, or Instagram UGC apps, or navigating various settings, this resource will help you understand key concepts and use Growave to its full potential.

- Settings and terminology may vary between Growave 1.0 and Growave 2.0. We are continuously working to improve the Growave interface, so terms and options may be updated from time to time.

General
Term | Explanation |

App | Means the Growave’s Reviews, Rewards, Wishlist, and Instagram UGC apps. The app can have multiple features. |
Feature | Specific functionality or capability that the app provides to the users. Features are distinct components or tools within an app that enable users to perform specific tasks, solve particular problems, or access certain benefits. |
Widget | It is a common name for the floating sidebars of the Wishlist and Reviews apps and a popup widget of the Rewards app. These widgets appear on the right/left side of the screen and are accessible from almost every page of the store. They allow users to leave reviews, manage earned points, learn more about their current status, and manage/share favorite items. Growave also offers other types of widgets that can be embedded into different pages on your Shopify store. |
Launcher | A small floating button-shaped interface element that, when clicked, triggers an app widget (Reviews, Rewards, or Wishlist) to pop up. Positioned at the bottom or on the left or right sides of the page. |
Tab | A user interface element that allows users to navigate between different sections or content areas within the same window or page. Tabs are typically organized in a row, and each tab corresponds to a different content panel or section that is revealed when the tab is clicked. |

Admin panel |
The Growave admin panel is a user-friendly interface where store administrators can manage and configure all aspects of Growave. It provides tools and settings for various apps, including Rewards, Reviews, Wishlist, and Instagram UGC, enabling merchants to enhance their e-commerce experience. Through the Growave admin panel, users can easily customize their loyalty programs, handle customer feedback, and integrate social media elements to drive engagement and sales.

Section |
A distinct part or subdivision of a webpage or interface, designed to group related content or functionality together for better organization and ease of use. In the context of the Growave app, sections refer to specific areas dedicated to different features or settings, such as Rewards or Reviews, and Branding or Integrations.

Rewards app | This app is designed to set up and manage Loyalty and Rewards (Points, Referrals, and VIP Tiers programs), where customers earn rewards and points for purchases and other actions. Points can be further redeemed for rewards to encourage repeat business. |
Reviews app | This app enables you to collect and showcase customer feedback across various shop pages and sections, helping build trust and enhance customer satisfaction. It also allows you to manage and respond to reviews directly, fostering engagement. Additionally, the app includes a Q&A feature, enabling customers to ask product-related questions, with shop owners providing answers to improve the shopping experience. |
Wishlist app | This app allows customers to save their favorite products to a wishlist and share saved wishlists, making it easy to keep track of items they are interested in and encouraging future purchases. |
Instagram UGC app | This app helps to integrate user-generated content from Instagram with your store, showcasing social media posts and tagged products to enhance visual appeal and drive engagement. Learn how to create and add shoppable Instagram galleries to your website to drive more sales. |
Branding section | The branding section allows customizing the visual and functional aspects of the Growave app to align with your store’s brand identity, including colors, logos/icons, and messaging. |
Customers section | A dedicated area within the Growave app where administrators can manage and interact with their customer base. This section includes tools and features for viewing customer profiles, tracking engagement, managing customer rewards and loyalty statuses, and analyzing customer behavior to enhance their overall experience and satisfaction. In the Customers section, you'll find the Customer questions item — this feature ties into the Attributes functionality in Growave 2.0, replacing the Custom questions available in Growave 1.0. Analytics section | A comprehensive area within the Growave app where administrators can access and analyze data related to various features, including Rewards (Points program, Referral program, VIP Tiers), Reviews, and Instagram UGC. This section provides detailed insights and metrics that help store owners understand customer behavior, measure the effectiveness of their loyalty programs, and optimize their strategies for better performance and engagement. |
Import/Export section | A specialized area within the Growave app that allows administrators to efficiently manage data by importing and exporting information related to Rewards, Reviews, and Wishlist. This section provides tools to streamline data transfer, ensuring that information can be easily migrated, backed up, or integrated with other systems. |
Integrations section | A dedicated area within the Growave app that allows administrators to connect and synchronize the app with external services and platforms. This section provides tools for integrating with third-party applications, enabling enhanced functionality, streamlined operations, and improved data flow across various systems. |
Settings section | An area within the Growave app where administrators can configure and manage General settings (system notifications, custom email domain, cart selectors), Billing information about current plan, available plans and FAQs, and API credentials. |
Notifications | This section can be found under each app's settings (Rewards, Reviews, Wishlist) and is used to set up and configure various email notifications. |
Rewards
Points
Term | Explanation |
---|---|
Points | A unit of value within the Growave Rewards program that customers can earn through various actions, such as making purchases, leaving reviews, or participating in promotional activities. Points can be accumulated and redeemed for rewards, encouraging customer engagement and loyalty. |
Points program | A customer loyalty system where customers earn rewards and points for various actions. Points, in turn, can be further redeemed for rewards. |
Points program status | A setting within the Growave app that allows businesses to activate or deactivate the Points program |
Ways to earn | Actions or rules defining how customers can earn points and other rewards based on the value of their purchases and other activities like signing up, sharing on social media, leaving product reviews, etc. Reward types include points, discounts, gift card (available starting from the Growth plan), or free product (available starting from the Entry plan). The "Place order" and "Place XX orders - Punch card" rules can only offer points as rewards. |
Points expiration | Points may have an expiration date, encouraging customers to use them within a specified time frame. Points expiration can be set under Rewards → Settings → Point program status. Here you can also set to notify customers before points expire in days. |
Place order rule | Customers earn points when they make a purchase. Reward type: Only points can be used as a reward. |
Place XX orders - Punch card rule | Customers earn points after completing a specified number of purchases. Reward type: Only points can be used as a reward. |
Minimum purchase amount | Set a minimum purchase amount to qualify for the reward — this setting is available for Place order and Place XX orders - Punch card rules. For other reward rules, the Minimum purchase amount is available under More options when the reward type is set to Discount (Fixed, Percentage, and Free shipping). |
Reward delay | Option to delay the reward, giving points after a specified period. |
Frequency limit | Limit how many times a customer can receive a certain reward within a specific period. |
Spend X to get Y rule | Customers earn a specific reward when they spend a certain amount of money. Reward types: points, discount, gift card, free product. |
Buy X to get Y rule | Customers earn a reward for purchasing a specific product or products from the specified collection. Reward types: points, discount, gift card, free product. |
Sign up rule | Customers can earn an award for creating a new account on the store. Reward types: points, discount, gift card, free product. |
Celebrate birthday rule | Customers earn points on their birthday.

Birthday point multiplier | A setting within the “Celebrate birthday” rule allows multiplying points earned by a customer for purchases on their birth date. |
Subscribe to newsletter rule | Customers earn points for subscribing to the store's email or sms newsletter. Reward types: points, discount, gift card, free product. Subscription Verification: The customer must provide a valid email address and confirm their subscription. One-Time Reward: Points are awarded only once per customer for subscribing. Notification: Customers may receive a confirmation email and notification about the points awarded. |
Leave review rule | Customers earn points for writing a product review. Reward types: points, discount, gift card, free product. |
Share on (X, Facebook) | Reward customers for sharing your shop on X or Facebook. |
Follow on (X, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok) | Reward customers for following your accounts on X, Instagram, YouTube, and/or TikTok. NOTE: Growave doesn’t track whether the customer actually followed your account. We only track page visits. |
Visit Facebook rule | Reward customers for visiting your Facebook business page. |
Share website rule | Reward customers for sharing your website on different channels (social media, messenger, and email). If you switch on all sharing options and set the frequency limit for this rule, e.g., once per 365 days, a customer will receive a reward for only one sharing action. |
Reward type | Growave offers shop owners five options to reward customers for actions: Points, Discount, Gift card (Growth plan), Free product (Entry plan) |
Ways to redeem | Rewards or points-spending rules define how customers can redeem accumulated points for various rewards, such as amount discount, percentage discount, gift cards (Growth plan), free products (Entry plan), or free shipping (Entry plan). |
Amount discount | This reward provides a monetary discount on the total order cost. Points are exchanged for a specific amount of discount (e.g., $10 off). You can configure amount discounts with either a fixed or variable discount type. NOTE: it is recommended to set minimum and maximum redeemable values to prevent redemption of huge discounts by customers. |
Percentage discount | In this case, points are exchanged for a percentage discount (e.g., 10% off). Fixed and variable discount types are available for the Percentage Off rule. |
Free shipping | Customers can spend their points to cover the shipping costs of their orders. It is recommended to define the minimum order value, maximum shipping cost that will be covered by the discount, and define eligible countries. Available starting from the Entry plan. Free product | Customers can spend their points to receive a specific product for free. Available starting from the Entry plan. Learn more about setting up a Free product. |
Gift card | Customers can spend their points to receive a gift card for future purchases. Available starting from the Growth plan. Learn more about Gift card usage. |
Allowed discount combinations | The permissible ways different types of discounts can be used together when customers redeem points. This setting specifies whether different discounts (order, product, shipping) can be applied together. Combined discounts cannot be applied to the Free product reward. |
Available exclusively for customers with listed tags | A setting that restricts the redemption of rewards to customers who have specific tags. Tags can be set in the Shopify → Customers section, allowing for targeted reward distribution. |
Minimum purchase amount | The minimum order value a customer must reach to qualify for a reward. |
Boost campaign | A feature that lets you set up time-limited offers to increase store activity by multiplying points for orders. |
Referrals
Term | Explanation |
---|---|
Referral program | A feature within the Rewards app in Growave that incentivizes customers to refer new customers to the business. Referring customers are given a unique referral link to share. When a new customer uses this link to make a purchase, both the referrer and the referred friend may receive rewards. |
Referral program status | A setting within the Growave app that allows businesses to activate or deactivate the Referral Rewards program. |
Referral rewards | Incentives given to customers for successfully referring new customers to a business through the Referral Program.

Referring customer | The existing customer who shares their unique referral link to encourage others to make a purchase. |
Referred friend | The new customer who makes a purchase using the referral link provided by the referring customer. |
Referral channels | Platforms or methods through which customers can share their referral links to invite new customers to a business. Within Growave, these channels include Facebook, X, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Email, Pinterest. |
Custom domain | A personalized web address that businesses can use for their referral links, replacing the default domain provided by the referral program. Instead of using a generic domain like ref.growave.com , businesses can set up a custom domain (e.g., ref.yourstore.com ) for their referral links. Custom domain enhances brand consistency and professionalism, making referral links more recognizable and trustworthy to customers. This feature is available on Growth, Plus, and Custom plans in Growave. View this guide on setting up a custom domain. |
Fraud detection | A set of processes used to identify and prevent fraudulent activities within a loyalty or referral program. Scenarios for suspicious activity:

Reports | Summarized data and insights available within the Growave app to track and analyze the performance and activity of various programs and features.

VIP Tiers
Term | Explanation |

VIP Tiers | A loyalty system within the Growave app that classifies customers into various tiers based on specific milestones to offer tailored rewards and benefits. Milestones for achieving a tier:

Tier Builder | A tool within the VIP Tiers program that allows businesses to create and customize VIP Tiers by defining the criteria and rewards associated with each tier. |
Perks | Available for Growave Version 2 (Growth plan and above) Perks are additional rewards that can be offered to VIP Tier customers. Found at the bottom of each tier editing page, this feature allows shop owners to define up to five custom perks for their top customers outside the standard loyalty program. Key features:
Perks give shop owners flexibility in offering exclusive rewards to enhance customer loyalty and engagement with VIP members. |
VIP Tiers program status | A setting within the Rewards section of the Growave app that allows businesses to enable or disable the VIP Tiers program (Rewards → Settings → VIP Tiers program status). |
VIP Tier enrollment | The process of configuring how customers are added and classified within the VIP Tiers program based on their activity and engagement with the business.

VIP Tier rewarding | This setting allows to customize the frequency of rewards for reaching a specific VIP tier:

Default tier | A setting on the VIP Tiers page that assigns the initial VIP tier to customers who do not meet the criteria for higher tiers. Customers are assigned to this tier without needing to meet any specific milestones, ensuring that all customers receive some level of benefits from the start. |
Points multiplier | A setting in the VIP Tiers page that enhances the number of points a customer earns for achieving a tier. |
Entry reward | A reward assigned to customers upon reaching a specific VIP tier in the Growave app's VIP Tiers program. Rewards may include points, discounts, gift cards, a free product, or no reward. |
Notifications | Section of the Rewards app used to set up and customize notifications for Points, Referral, and VIP Tiers programs. Includes the following notifications:

Rewards page | A dedicated page on a website created using Growave's Rewards app, where users can view and manage their rewards. This page includes information on earning rules, available rewards, and redemption options. Shop owners can personalize the Rewards page with pre-developed widgets such as Ways to Earn Points, Ways to Spend Points, Referral Program, and VIP Tiers. Rewards Page is available on Growth, Plus, and Custom plans |
Reward management | A setting in the Growave Rewards app that allows you to award or cancel rewards based on the financial status of customer orders. |
Rewardable amount | The portion of the order value on which points are calculated. You can exclude taxes, shipping, discounts, and gift cards from order value calculations or include them. |
Eligibility configuration | A setting that allows you to determine which customers and products are eligible to participate in the Rewards program. |
Reset Rewards programs | A feature that allows you to reset all reward balances, points, and/or VIP Tiers to default values within the Growave Rewards app. This feature clears all accumulated points, rewards, and program data, effectively starting the rewards program from scratch. Useful for resetting the rewards program at the beginning of a new period, after significant changes, or when transitioning to a new rewards structure. |
Rewards for past actions | A feature in the Growave Rewards app that allows customers to receive rewards for actions they have taken in the past (before the activation of the rewards program or changes in the program rules) based on the points-earning rules:

FAQ | A section under the Growave Rewards app for creating frequently asked questions related to the Rewards program participation, earning, and spending rules. The FAQ section is accessible via the (?) icon in the Rewards widget.

Collect only verified reviews | A setting that restricts reviews to customers who have purchased the product, hiding the review form from all other visitors. |

A setting that mandates customers to include a title when submitting reviews.

*Starting from July 8, 2024, all new reviews will be automatically published after 14 days, regardless of your auto-publishing rating setting. This setting is mandatory and cannot be disabled, as it is required by Spotify.

Display reviews tab | A tab featuring widgets that can be enabled to display reviews on the website. There are 4 widgets available in this tab and page editor. Currently (August 2024), they have different names in the admin panel and the page customizer respectively: Product reviews widget → Reviews widget, Average rating widget → Product avg rating, Reviews slider widget → Reviews slider, Product Reviews Mini Slider → Reviews Mini Slider. |
Custom questions | A feature of the Reviews app available in Growave 1.0 allowing to generate more detailed reviews by adding customized questions to the review widget and review request emails. You have an option to ask product- and customer-related questions. |
Questions and Answers tab | A tab in the Reviews settings that allows you to enable or disable Q&A section, and to enable notifications about new questions asked by customers/visitors. |
Attributes | The Attributes feature, available for Growave 2.0 users starting from the Growth plan, helps you gather detailed customer insights. By creating custom attribute lists with tailored questions, you can collect specific feedback tied to product tags. These questions appear in the review form for customers who purchased relevant products, ensuring their feedback is precise and actionable. Wishlist
Term | Explanation |

Manage Wishlist | The main page of the Wishlist app, providing metrics and statistics such as the number of items added to wishlists by customers and visitors within a specified period, statistics on wishlist notifications, most loved items, and out-of-stock favorites. The only setting available here is the date selector, which allows you to adjust the reporting period. |
Wishlist status | A setting that allows enabling or disabling the Wishlist app. Located under Wishlist → Settings. |
Require guests to provide email addresses | A setting (checkbox) in the Wishlist Settings section that prompts guests to provide their email addresses when adding items to the Wishlist. The text in this prompt can be changed here: Branding → Language editor → Wishlist → Save Wishlist Modal. |
Save My Wishlist | A setting (checkbox) in the Wishlists settings section that allows enabling the pop-up to help guests save their wishlist before leaving your website. Once activated, they will receive an email notification with a link to their saved wishlist. |
Remove items from wishlist upon purchase | This option automatically removes items from a customer's wishlist once they have been purchased (available for users of Growave version 2). |
Share wishlist | This option allows you to select which social media platforms your customers can use to share their wishlists, enhancing engagement and visibility for your store. |

Instagram Galleries | A feature within the Instagram UGC app in Growave that lets you create galleries from Instagram posts using specific hashtags. These curated galleries can be showcased on various shop pages, including product pages, enhancing product display with user-generated content. |
Hashtag | A keyword or phrase preceded by the “#” symbol used on Instagram to categorize and tag content. In the context of Instagram UGC, hashtags are used to pool and aggregate Instagram posts into galleries based on shared themes or topics, which can then be displayed on shop pages. |
Layout |
The arrangement and presentation style of images within a gallery. It determines how images are displayed on the page and includes several options:

Shoppable Instagram page | A dedicated page within Growave's Instagram UGC app that allows users to integrate Instagram posts directly into their store. This page displays Instagram posts tagged with products from your shop, enabling customers to view and purchase products directly from the Instagram feed. It enhances the shopping experience by blending social media content with e-commerce functionality. |
