Guide to the Attributes feature in Growave
NOTE: The Attributes feature is available for Growave version 2 users starting from the Growth plan.
The Attributes feature in Growave allows you to gather detailed insights about your customers and their experiences with your products. By creating custom attribute lists with tailored questions, you can capture specific feedback based on product tags, helping you better understand your customer base and refine your product offerings. These lists appear in the Review form for customers who have purchased relevant products, ensuring feedback is always specific and valuable.
Growave version 2: If you have been using the Custom questions feature of the Reviews app before November 18, 2024 (when Attributes were rolled out), your existing custom questions will be automatically migrated to the new Attributes feature. However, please check and update them as necessary.
Growave version 1: The Customer questions feature will continue to be available for users of our app's legacy version.

How to create an attributes list
Follow these steps to create a new Attributes list for customer feedback:
- In the Growave admin panel, navigate to Reviews → Attributes.
- Click Create attribute list to start a new list:
- Specify the name, add product tags, and assign questions:
- Set the list name: Provide a meaningful name to help identify the list's purpose.
- Choose products to show attribute questions:
- Select the "All products" option to make the list visible for all store products.
NOTE: If multiple lists are created with the "All products" option, each list will be displayed during the review collection process.
- Alternatively, add relevant tags to target specific products.
NOTE: If Collect only verified reviews in Reviews → Settings is disabled, any customer can leave reviews for tagged products. If enabled, only customers who have purchased the tagged products can leave reviews.
- Add questions: Customize your list with questions that target either customer demographics and/or product-related feedback. Each list can include up to five Customer questions and five Product questions.
Types of attribute questions
Attribute questions are divided into two categories: Product attributes questions and Customer attributes questions.
Product attributes questions
Product-related questions capture customer feedback on specific product attributes, such as quality or fit. These insights can be essential for refining your products based on direct customer input.
To set up Product attributes:
- Click a type of question from the Base questions box to add it to the list and start editing:
Range: A numeric scale with defined minimum and maximum values.
Example: "Rate the product quality from 1 to 5"
Centered range: A balanced scale with a midpoint, allowing both positive and negative feedback.
Example: "How well did the product fit? (-2 Too small, 0: Perfect fit, +2: Too large)"
Single value: A single-choice question where the respondent can select only one option.
Example: "What is your preferred size?"
Multi value: A multiple-choice question where the respondent can select several applicable options.
Example: "Which features did you find most useful? (Select all that apply)"
Text field: An open-ended question for detailed feedback.
Example: "Describe your overall experience with the product."
- Define Property names: You must assign a unique Property name (e.g., "Size" or "Quality") for each question. This name appears in the attributes list on the storefront and is used for integration with other apps. Ensure it is unique and clear to avoid conflicts.
- Set requirements: You can choose to make the answers required.
To delete a Product question, go to Attributes → select the attribute list, choose the question from the Product attributes tab, and click Delete. Deleted Product questions with existing responses will still be displayed on the storefront.
Customer attributes questions
Customer-related questions let you collect insights on your customers, such as age, gender, or preferences. This information can help you understand your customer segments and tailor your marketing strategies.
To set up Customer attributes:
- In the Growave admin, go to Customers → Customer questions. Choose a question type, click it to add it to the list, and start editing:
- Single value: Use for collecting singular, straightforward information.
Example: "What is your age group?"
- Multi value: Allow customers to select all applicable options for broader insights.
Example: "Which types of products do you usually purchase?"
- Date: Use for collecting specific date-related information. For instance, this question can be asked to collect birthday information for further marketing campaigns.
Example: "When is your birthday?"
- Location (country) question: Understand where your customers are located.
Example: "Which country are you shopping from?"
- Open text (free response): Allow customers to share detailed feedback or additional information.
Example: "Tell us what you look for in a brand."
- Define Property names: Assign a unique Property name (such as "Location" or "Age") to each question. This name appears in the attributes list on the storefront and is used for integration purposes. Ensure it is unique and clear to avoid conflicts.
- Set requirements: You can mark answers as required to ensure completion.
To delete a Customer question, go to Customers → Customer questions, select the question, and click Delete. Deleted questions with existing responses will still be displayed on the storefront.
Once you add Customer questions in the Customers menu, these questions will become available in the Attributes list → Customer attributes tab → Customer questions box:
How Attributes appear on the storefront
The Attributes feature integrates with your storefront, making it easy for customers to interact with your attribute questions as part of the review process:
- Relevant display:
When the Collect only verified reviews setting is enabled in Reviews → Settings and the attribute list is set to Products with specific tags, attribute forms will only appear to customers who have purchased the tagged products. If the verified reviewer setting is disabled, all customers can see the review form for tagged products.
This is how the reviewing process looks like with the Attributes feature enabled:
- Enhanced review display:
If customers respond to attribute questions, their answers will appear as additional details within the product reviews. This added layer of information provides other shoppers with valuable insights on product-specific attributes like quality, fit, or other relevant characteristics.
- Incorporation in review requests:
Attribute questions are included in the Review request process, encouraging customers to provide detailed feedback when submitting their reviews.
