This guide answers frequently asked questions about Growave Reviews, covering everything from settings and integrations to design customization.

How to change the location of the Reviews widget or hide it?

In Growave 2.0, the location of the Reviews widget can be adjusted in the Branding → Reviews → Widget & Launcher. Here you can select the position of the Reviews side drawer as "Center left or "Center right" and choose the "Hide on all devices" option in the Launcher visibility section:

In Gowave 1.0, the default location of the Reviews widget cannot be changed.

Is the email column mandatory when importing reviews?

Yes, the email column is mandatory when importing reviews. For more details, check our review import guide.

Which product in the order will the review request be sent for?

The review request email features up to five products from the order. If a customer clicks through and reviews a product they have not reviewed yet, they’ll also be prompted to review the remaining items from that order. This approach helps gather feedback on a broader range of products.

Will a review request email be sent for refunded or partially refunded orders?

No, the system automatically excludes refunded or partially refunded orders from the review request queue.

Can all visitors leave a review? How do verified reviews work?

By default, any visitor can leave a review. To limit reviews to verified buyers, go to ReviewsSettingsGeneralReview request rulesCollect only verified reviews → Select the "Allow reviews only from verified buyers" checkbox. This ensures only customers who bought a product from your shop can leave a review, and their reviews will be marked as "Verified buyer". Enabling this setting also helps prevent unverified reviews from appearing on your store.

How to bypass account login for leaving reviews?

While full login cannot be bypassed to prevent spam and unverified reviews, customers can leave their email instead of logging in. They will need to verify their email address before the review is published.

Does Growave integrate with Schema Plus?

Yes, you can install Schema Plus from the Shopify Apps Store to embed rich snippets with reviews effectively on your product pages. All further settings shall be applied directly in the Schema Plus app.

How to exclude a product from review request emails?

Go to your Shopify admin → Products → select a product you want to exclude and add a tag:

In Growave admin, navigate to Reviews → Settings → General → Review request rules. Locate the Product exclusion tags section and enter the same tag.

Is there integration with Google Merchant Center?

Yes, Growave supports integration with Google Merchant Center. You can use an XML feed containing your product reviews by going to the Growave admin panel → Integrations → Google Shopping. Enable the integration, copy the XML feed link, and submit it in your Google Merchant Center account.

Your reviews may start appearing in Google Shopping listings after Google processes and approves the feed. For setup instructions, please refer to our detailed guide.

Why are some reviews not marked as "Verified" on my store?

There are several common reasons why reviews might not display as "Verified":

  1. "Allow reviews only from verified buyers" setting not enabled: If this setting is not turned on in your Growave Reviews settings, all customers can leave reviews regardless of purchase history, resulting in unverified reviews.

  2. Email address mismatch: If a customer leaves a review using a different email address than the one used for their order, the system cannot associate the review with the purchase, and it will not be marked as verified.

  3. Review timing issues: If a customer submits a review before receiving the review request email, the system might not recognize the order associated with that review.

  4. Imported reviews missing verification data: Reviews imported from another platform without a "verified" column will be considered unverified.

To address these issues:

  • Ensure the 'Allow reviews only from verified buyers' setting is enabled in ReviewsSettingsGeneralReview request rules.

  • Encourage customers to use the same email address for reviews as they used for orders.

  • Configure your review request email workflow to send emails at optimal times.

  • When importing reviews, make sure to include proper verification data.

Can customers edit their submitted reviews?

Yes. If you enable the Allow review editing for customers setting in Reviews → Settings → Moderation and display, customers can edit their submitted reviews. This allows them to update their feedback if their experience changes or if they want to correct their initial review.

When a review is edited, the updated version is moved to pending for your approval, while the original version remains published on the storefront. Once you check and approve the updated version, it will replace the old one.

Enable the Get notified about reviews setting to receive notifications when a review update is submitted. You can publish updated reviews in Growave admin → Reviews → Manage reviews.

⚠️ Important

As a shop owner, you cannot edit customer reviews from the Growave admin panel.

Why isn’t the Growave reviews widget showing on my Reviews page?

By default, Growave includes a dedicated Reviews page, typically located at yourshopurl.com/pages/reviews. However, if your store already has a third-party reviews widget on that page, Growave’s widget will not appear automatically to avoid display conflicts. You have two options:

  • Replace the existing widget with Growave’s Reviews widget. Learn how to add Reviews widgets using placeholders

  • Integrate both widgets if you’d like to display reviews from multiple sources (consult your developer for styling and performance considerations).

Can I allow only product reviews and disable site reviews?

By default, customers can leave both product reviews and site reviews in Growave. Site reviews can be submitted from the Reviews side drawer or the Reviews page.
If you want to allow only product reviews, contact our support team and request to remove the Write a review button from both the Reviews side drawer and the Reviews page (these are the entry points for site reviews).
Keep the Leave review rule enabled — customers will then only be able to submit reviews from product pages, and any associated rewards will apply to those product reviews.

Why are customers who haven’t purchased products able to leave reviews on my store?

If the review is a site review (feedback about your store as a whole, not a specific product), it can be submitted by anyone — even without making a purchase.
The “Collect only verified reviews” setting applies only to product reviews and will not restrict site reviews.

Site reviews will not appear on your storefront until you approve them in Reviews → Manage reviews. If you don’t want to display a particular site review, simply leave it unpublished or delete it.

How can I show review star ratings on collection pages?

To display Growave’s review stars on your collection pages, submit a request to our tech team. This integration isn’t automatic and must be handled manually on our end.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Contact our support team and mention you’d like to show review stars on collection pages.

  2. Provide collaborator access to your Shopify admin so we can apply the changes.

  3. We’ll implement and test the star ratings layout on your collection pages.

  4. Once ready, we’ll notify you that everything is live.

Want the stars to match your theme or resemble a certain style? Let us know in the request — we’ll do our best to match it.

Why is my review export taking so long?

Exporting reviews may take longer if a previous export is still running — this is common when exporting a large number of reviews.

  • What you can do:
Wait until the current export finishes before trying again. Exports are queued to avoid conflicts, especially for stores with lots of review data.

  • No action is required in most cases. If it’s taking longer than expected, give it a bit more time and avoid triggering new exports during processing.

How many times can a customer review the site?

Each customer can leave only one site review.
