Getting started with Reviews app
Customer reviews are a powerful way to build trust and showcase your products. By integrating reviews into your store, you can display real customer experiences, enhance product credibility, and increase conversions. This guide will walk you through the steps to enable and configure the Reviews app in Growave, from setting up review requests to customizing how reviews appear on your storefront.
Enable Reviews app
Navigate to the Growave admin panel → Reviews → Manage Reviews and click Launch Reviews to enable this feature for your store.
Set up Reviews email notifications
Configure review request emails and reminders to automatically send them after purchase, helping you collect valuable customer feedback and enhance your social proof. In this section, you can also track notification performance for the last 30 days with such metrics as the number of emails sent and opened as well as the conversion rate.

In addition to the three review request emails, Growave offers system notifications to keep your customers informed:
- Unverified review: Sends a verification email to customers who have left a review without logging in.
- Replied to your question: Notifies customers when you respond to their questions.
- Replied to your review: Notifies customers when you respond to their reviews.
Import existing reviews
Importing reviews is a useful way to transfer valuable feedback from past platforms or systems, helping you maintain credibility and social proof in your current store.
You can import reviews using a CSV file. In the Growave admin panel, go to the Import/Export → Reviews tab.

Adjust general settings
The General tab of the Reviews settings contains three sections: Reviews status, Collect reviews, and Manage reviews.
Reviews status
This section allows you to enable or disable the Reviews app:
Collect reviews
This section allows you to manage the overall review collection settings to fit your store's needs:
- Collect only verified reviews: If enabled, only customers who have purchased the product can leave reviews, and the review form will remain hidden from other visitors.
- For Growave 2.0 users: When enabled, you'll also see an option to set a limit on how many reviews a verified buyer can leave for the same product. For more details, check out this article on limiting reviews.
- Require review titles: This setting makes it mandatory for customers to add a title when submitting a review.
- Product exclusion: Exclude specific products from review requests. By tagging certain products, you can prevent Growave from sending review request emails and collecting reviews for those items.
- Reviewer/Q&A author's name: Choose how to display names of reviewers and authors of questions. Options include: Full name, Shortened last name, Shortened full name, Anonymous, Allow user to choose the display format
Manage reviews
This section allows you to control how reviews are handled in your store:
- Automatically publish reviews
Select which reviews to automatically publish based on their star rating.
NOTE: Starting from July 8, 2024, all new reviews will be automatically published after 14 days, regardless of your auto-publishing rating setting. For instance, if you enable the auto-publish feature and set the rating threshold to 4 stars, 3-star reviews will still be automatically published after 14 days. This setting is mandatory and cannot be disabled, as it is required by Shopify.
You can manually review and curate your reviews during this 14-day period. We strongly encourage you to publish all valid reviews promptly to comply with local regulations. This change does not affect reviews submitted before July 8, 2024.
- New review notification
Enable notifications to receive an email when a new review is submitted.
- Unpublished product reviews
Display reviews for unpublished products across all review widgets, even if the product's link is not clickable. This feature allows reviews to be visible for products that are no longer available in the store.
- Product groups
Group similar or identical products under different Shopify product pages and share reviews across them. This helps you manage reviews more effectively when selling variations of the same product.
- Translate product reviews (available only for Growave 2.0 users)
Choose from translation services like DeepL or Google Translate to automatically translate reviews.

- Send review requests based on order status
Choose when customers receive review requests depending on the order status:
- Paid: Review requests are sent once the order reaches the Paid status in Shopify. This option is ideal for digital products.
- Fulfilled: Review requests are sent when the order is marked as fulfilled by the merchant.
- Delivered: Review requests are sent when the order's shipment status updates to Delivered.
Display reviews on your store
You can showcase customer reviews using a set of widgets tailored to your store’s design. These widgets make it easy to display feedback in an engaging and visually appealing way.
To display reviews, go to Onsite widgets → Reviews:

Available Review widgets:
- Product review widget: Displays reviews directly on product pages.
- Star rating widget: Display star ratings and review count for the product (customizable in Reviews → Bradning).
- Review slider: Showcases reviews in a sliding carousel format.
- Reviews mini-slider: Displays a compact slider of product reviews.
Clicking the Add widget button from the Reviews tab will redirect you to the Shopify product page customizer.
The Review slider and Review mini-slider widgets allow displaying reviews based on specific ratings:
Enable Questions & Answers feature
Activate the Questions and Answers feature, which is integrated within the Reviews app, allowing customers to ask product-related questions. Here you can also enable email notifications about new questions.
This is what it looks like in the Reviews section of the product page:
NOTE: The Filter option before the Ask a question button allows users to filter product reviews based on custom questions available for a particular product. This feature is available for the Growave 2.0 users.
Next to the product rating, customers will see a clickable section with the number of questions asked:
Add Attributes
The Attributes feature located under the Reviews app in the Growave admin panel helps you collect in-depth feedback from customers about their demographics and experiences with your products. By setting up custom attributes lists with targeted questions, you can gather insights tailored to specific tagged products or all products in your shop.
NOTE: The Attributes feature is available for Growave 2.0 users (who joined us after January 22, 2024) starting from the Growth plan.

For Growave 1.0 users: Use the Custom questions feature to gather specific customer and product insights. This feature also allows potential buyers to better understand your products through detailed feedback posted in the Reviews section of the product pages.

Add Reviews badge
Users of Growave 2.0 can add the Trust badge widget by creating an empty <div>
element in the page with the relevant class name:

This badge displays your store's average rating and total number of customer reviews. The badge helps build trust and encourages purchases by showcasing social proof in a compact format.

Customize Reviews branding
Growave 1.0 has limited Reviews' branding options in the Legacy branding editor.
Users of Growave 2.0 (who joined after January 22, 2024) have access to enhanced customization options for aligning the Reviews app with their brand’s style.
To access this functionality, go to Branding → Reviews.
The Reviews branding section is divided into two tabs for customization of General and Widget & Launcher (Pop-up widget and floating button respectively).
In the General tab:
- Choose Primary and Secondary colors.
- Set the Review Stars color and icon.
- Select the Reviews layout: list or grid.
- Select the Button color: Primary or Secondary.
In the Widget & Launcher tab:
- Choose the Reviews side drawer position (Right center or Left center).
- Customize the Launcher background, Font, and Icon background colors.
- Choose the Reviews launcher visibility:
- Show on all devices.
- Show only on desktop.
- Hide on all devices.
- Choose Star rating widget visibility:
- Always display the widget
- Hide the widget if there are no reviews
- Set Widget display type:
- Show text and stars
- Show stars only
- Show text, stars and "Ask a question" link
