How to pause the Loyalty&Rewards program?

You have the option of temporarily disabling or pausing your Rewards program at any time in the Admin panel. Once your program is paused, no new members will be added, the Rewards tab will be disabled, and no new points will be accrued.

Kindly take note that putting the Rewards program on pause does not halt billing.


Follow these steps to pause the program:

1. Points program

Before pausing the Points program we recommend you notify customers for them to redeem their points for the discounts in the preferable period. After that, you can pause the program by clicking on the "Disable" button in the Admin panel → Rewards → Settings → Points status:


More things to know about pausing:

Customer point balance is not affected

Pausing the program does not affect customers' Rewards balance or existing VIP Tiers.

Existing discount codes will remain usable.

If a customer possesses a discount code generated before pausing your program, they will retain the ability to use the discount even during the program's paused state.

NOTE: As long as you don't entirely deactivate the Rewards program, all active and unused discounts will remain accessible to customers until they choose to apply them during checkout. If you prefer customers not to utilize the redeemed discount, you have the option to delete them within the Shopify Admin.

The discounts will be visible both in the Rewards tab and on the dedicated Rewards page. Since the other program is still operational, the tab and page will continue to function normally.

Please take note: When all three programs - Points, Referral, and VIP tiers - are deactivated, the Rewards tab will no longer be accessible.

2. Disabling the Referral program and the VIP tiers:

To completely disable the Rewards program, you need to go to the Admin panel and disable all the programs (Points, Referral, and VIP tiers) separately:

A few things to note when you are re-activating the Rewards program after pausing or disabling it.

  • Your program settings will be saved
  • All customizations applied before pausing your program will be saved. That means you will not need to re-customize your program after re-activating.
