Getting started with Reviews app

The central hub for enabling the Growave Reviews app. Learn how to launch the app, configure email notifications, adjust moderation settings, and display review widgets.

Customer reviews are a powerful way to build trust and showcase your products. By integrating reviews into your store, you can display real customer experiences, enhance product credibility, and increase conversions.

This guide serves as your central hub for enabling the Reviews app, from initial setup to displaying widgets on your storefront.


Enable the Reviews app

To start collecting feedback, you must first activate the feature.

  1. Navigate to the Growave admin panel.

  2. Go to Reviews β†’ Settings β†’ General.

  3. Click the Enable Reviews app button.


Set up Reviews email notifications

Configure automated emails to request feedback after a customer makes a purchase. You can also track notification performance metrics such as the number of emails sent, opened, and the conversion rate.

  • Go to Reviews β†’ Notifications.

  • Enable Review request emails: Set up the initial request and up to two reminders. These emails can be triggered based on order status (Paid, Fulfilled, or Delivered).

  • Enable System notifications:

    • Unverified review: Sends a verification email to customers who have left a review without logging in, or to guests (if posting reviews is allowed for all site users).

    • Replied to your question: Notifies customers when you respond to their questions.

    • Replied to your review: Notifies customers when you respond to their reviews.

Import existing reviews

If you are moving from another platform, you can transfer your history to Growave.

  1. Go to Import/Export β†’ Reviews.

  2. Upload your CSV file to import data.

Adjust general settings

The General tab in Reviews β†’ Settings controls the core behavior of the app:

Use this section to enable or disable the Reviews app on your store.

Review request rules section

This section manages who gets emails and when. Key settings include:

  1. Choose who receives review request emails: Select between all customers or only those who opted in for marketing emails.

  2. Collect only verified reviews: Restrict reviews to verified buyers who purchased the product.

  3. Send review requests based on order status: Trigger emails when an order is Paid, Fulfilled, or Delivered.

  4. Send review requests for orders made via:

    • Online store

    • Point of sale

  5. Exclude products from review requests: Tag specific products to prevent Growave from sending review requests for them.

  6. Get notified about reviews: Receive an email when a new review is submitted.


Moderation and display section

This section controls how reviews are published and displayed. Key settings include:

  1. Automatically publish reviews: Choose to automatically publish all reviews, reviews based on a star rating threshold (e.g., 4+ stars), or manually approve them.

  2. Show reviews for unpublished, draft, or archived products: Display reviews for products that are no longer available.

  3. Display reviewer names: Choose formats like Full name, Shortened last name, Shortened full name, Anonymous, or Allow customers to choose.

  4. Review source indicators: Display badges such as Verified customer purchase, Verified by store owner, Imported review, and Incentivized review. πŸ“– Learn more about review source indicators

  5. Require review titles: Mandate that customers include a title when submitting a review.

  6. Allow review editing for customers: Permit customers to update their review text or title after submission.

  7. Choose reviews sorting: Set the default sorting order for displaying reviews on the storefront. Options include: Most relevant, Most recent, Highest rating, Lowest rating, With photos, or Most helpful.


Grouping

Group products to share reviews

Share reviews across similar or identical products (e.g., different variants on separate pages).

Translations

Translate product reviews (available for Growave 2.0 users)

Use DeepL or Google Translate to automatically translate reviews for international customers.

AI Features

AI Review Summaries

You can enhance your product pages by enabling AI Review Summaries (available starting from the Growth plan). This feature uses artificial intelligence to create a short synopsis of your customer reviews, highlighting key sentiments.

To ensure quality, summaries only appear on products that have:

  • At least 30 reviews.

  • A rating of 4.0 stars or higher.


Display reviews on your store

Showcase feedback using Growave's onsite widgets.

  1. In Growave admin, go to Onsite widgets β†’ Reviews.

  2. Select and enable your desired widgets:

    • Product review widget

    • Star rating widget

    • Review slider

    • Reviews mini-slider

    • Reviews floating widget

Enable Questions & Answers feature

Activate this feature in Reviews β†’ Settings β†’ Questions & Answers to allow customers to ask product-related questions directly on the product page. You can also enable email notifications for new questions here.

The Filter option before the Ask a question button allows users to filter product reviews based on custom questions available for a particular product. This feature is available for the Growave 2.0 users.


Add Attributes

Go to the Reviews β†’ Attributes. This feature helps you collect in-depth feedback from customers about their demographics and experiences (e.g., skin type, fit).

⚠️ Important

For Growave 1.0 users: Use the Custom questions feature to gather specific customer and product insights. This feature also allows potential buyers to better understand your products through detailed feedback posted in the Reviews section of the product pages.


Add Reviews badge

Growave 2.0 users can add a Trust badge widget showing the store's average rating and total number of reviews by adding this code snippet to their theme:

Tailor the look of your reviews to match your store.

  • Growave 2.0: Go to Branding β†’ Reviews. Customize colors, icons, layouts, buttons, the Reviews floating widget, and its launcher.

  • Growave 1.0: Use the Legacy branding editor.
