Getting started with Growave


We’re thrilled to have you onboard! Growave is your all-in-one marketing solution, designed to help you engage customers and boost sales with loyalty programs, referrals, wishlists, reviews, and Instagram UGC — all in one place.

After installing Growave, a brief onboarding process will guide you through activating the app’s essential features. This includes selecting the admin panel language, choosing your store’s theme where Growave will operate, and enabling key settings like App embed and Customer accounts — both required for the core apps like Rewards, Reviews, and Wishlist.

If you skipped the onboarding after installing Growave, default settings will be applied. Follow the steps below to complete the setup and get started with Growave:


Enable essential settings

App embeds

App embeds allow the widgets for Reviews, Rewards, and Wishlists to appear on your store. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize:

In the left-side menu of the editor page, click App embeds and enable Growave:

Customer accounts

To use key Growave features like Rewards, Reviews, and Wishlists, customer accounts must be enabled. To do this, navigate to Shopify admin → Settings:

Click Customer accounts, switch on the Show login links toggle, and choose between Customer accounts (recommended) or Legacy accounts:

  • Customer accounts — passwordless login using a verification code sent by Shopify.
  • Legacy accounts — traditional login and registration.

Add widgets to your store

Once the essentials are set up, add the necessary widgets to your store so customers can engage with the following features:

Reviews widget

You can install relevant Reviews app widgets through the Growave admin panel:

  • Go to Reviews → Settings → Display Reviews.
  • Add at least product review and average rating widgets:
      • Product reviews widget — displays reviews section on product pages.
      • Average rating widget — highlights the average product's rating.
      • Reviews slider widget — showcases reviews in a carousel.
      • Product reviews mini-slider — adds a compact slider of product reviews.

These widgets can also be installed using the Shopify page editor as exemplified in the Wishlist widgets instructions below.

Wishlist widget

This widget allows customers to save products to their wishlist and receive reminders. You can customize the appearance and placement to fit your store’s theme:

  1. In the Shopify admin, go to Online StoreThemesCustomize:

  1. In the upper menu, navigate to the Products → Default product page.
  2. In the Default product page, go to TemplateProduct information in the right-side menu.
  3. Click Add block, go to Apps tab, and select Add to Wishlist.

Configure and launch apps

Loyalty & Rewards

The Loyalty and Rewards program boosts customer engagement by offering points for actions like purchases, reviews, and account creation. With this feature, you can turn customers into loyal brand advocates.

  • Points program: Your points program drives customer loyalty. By configuring Ways to earn and Ways to redeem, you set how customers earn points and what they can spend them for.

If you skip the onboarding, we add the following by default:

  • Place order — 5 points for every $1 spent.
  • Create account — 100 points.
  • Leave review — 100 points.
  • Redeem 500 points for a $5 amount discount.
  • Redeem 1000 points for a $10 amount discount.

If these settings suit your needs, simply activate the program by clicking the banner.

Reviews

Customer reviews build trust and showcase product credibility. If you have already integrated the Reviews widget as provided in the step above, you can configure how automatic review requests are sent.

In the Growave admin panel, go to ReviewsNotifications. Here you can switch the notifications on/off, edit timing when they are set, and customize the notification's content.

You can also import your existing reviews using a CSV file. In the Growave admin panel, go to the Import/Export section → Reviews. For detailed instructions, refer to our guide on importing reviews.

You can also reward customers with points for leaving reviews. Go to the Ways to earn section of the Points program, click the "Add ways to earn" button, and select Leave review earning rule:

Wishlist

The Wishlist app allows shoppers to save their favorite products for later purchases. It reduces cart abandonment by sending reminder emails, helping turn interest into sales. Customize how reminders are sent and activate the following notifications:

  • Saved wishlist notification series — sends a series of three emails to users who have saved items in their wishlist.
  • Wishlist item on sale — notifies users when an item they saved is on sale.
  • Wishlist item back in stock — alerts users when an item they saved is back in stock.

NOTE: These emails will only be sent to customers who have opted into receiving marketing emails from your store.

Migrate your existing data

If you’re switching to Growave from another platform, you can easily migrate your data.

Send emails from your domain

As mentioned above, Growave sends various email notifications to customers based on their interactions. Stay on brand by sending these emails from your domain.

  1. In the Growave admin, go to Settings → General, find the Custom email domain section, and click the "Setup" button.

  1. In the popup window, enter your email to send notifications from and click "Save".
  2. You will receive a confirmation email from Amazon. Confirm your email to proceed.
  3. Growave will generate the necessary records for your domain and display them in a new popup window.
  4. Add the records to your hosting provider’s DNS settings.
