🚀 Feature availability
The Free product reward is available starting from the Entry plan.
Growave allows your customers to earn free products by performing rewardable actions and exchanging collected points in the Points program. You can also reward customers with free products for achieving VIP Tiers and set free products as rewards for both referring customers and referred friends in the Referral program.
Free product in the Points program
Go to Rewards → Points tab → Ways to redeem section and click the "Add ways to redeem" button.
Choose the Free product option from the available rewards.
Click the "Browse" button to select the product and set up the discount name.
Set the points price required to redeem the product and indicate the discount value:
Example: If you enter 90% in this field, the customer will pay 10% of the product's price.
Define customer eligibility using a special tag, and set a discount expiration in days.
Click the "Save" button to finalize the rule.
This is how customers can redeem their free product from the Rewards widget:
📗 Note
Free product can be selected as a reward in the Ways to earn section as well.
Go to Rewards → Points → Ways to earn and click the "Add ways to earn" button. Choose the earning action and select Free product as the Reward type
⚠️ Important
Products priced at $0.00 in Shopify cannot be selected as a Free product reward in Growave. This is because Growave requires a positive product price to apply a discount — typically 100% — to make the product free. If the price is set to $0.00, even a 100% discount has no effect, and the reward cannot be processed correctly.
✅ To fix this
Set a minimum positive price (e.g., $0.01) in Shopify. This will allow the system to apply the discount and grant the product as a reward.
Free product in the Referral program
Go to Rewards → Referral Program tab and click Edit in the Referred friend or Referring customer sections.
Select Free product as the Reward type.
Choose a product, click Add.
Set discount value and discount lifetime, then click Save.
Free product in the VIP Tiers program
A free product can be set as an entry reward for achieving a VIP tier.
Go to Rewards → VIP Tiers tab, choose the existing tier, or click the "Add tier" button.
Choose a Free product in the Entry reward section.
Click Browse and select the product you want to give away for achieving the tier.
Set discount value and discount lifetime.
Click Save to finish.
Free product and discount combinations
The Free product reward can be combined with other discount types. You can choose to allow discount combinations when setting up free product as a reward in Points, VIP Tiers, and Referrals programs.
