Overview

Customers can redeem loyalty points for rewards such as discounts, free shipping, free products, gift cards, or store credit. These redemption rules define how points are exchanged for rewards in the Ways to redeem section of your Growave admin.

You can configure redemption rules under Growave admin → Rewards → Points → Ways to redeem → Add way to redeem.

When customers view a reward in the Rewards pop-up widget or Rewards page, key limitations from reward setup (such as minimum purchase amount, discount lifetime, or maximum shipping rate) appear in the reward card.

If customers don't have enough points to redeem a discount, they will see the "View actions to earn points" button, which redirects them to the "How to earn points" section in the Rewards widget.

Setting up Ways to redeem

Each reward type includes specific configuration fields and several shared settings that work similarly across all rewards. The setup flow is the same: choose the reward type, define its main parameters, then adjust shared options such as lifetime, combinations, or tags. Below you’ll find descriptions and setup steps for each available reward.

Amount discount

Lets customers redeem a fixed or variable monetary discount.

How to set up

  1. Go to Rewards → Points → Ways to redeem → Add way to redeem → Amount discount.

  2. Enter a Title, e.g. $10 off your order.

  3. Define the Points price — number of points required.

  4. Choose Reward type:

    • Fixed discount — one set amount (e.g., 1,000 points = $10 off).

    • Variable discount — flexible increments (e.g., 100 points = $1 off).
When Variable is selected, two extra fields appear:

      • Minimum points expendable value — smallest redeemable amount.

      • Maximum points expendable value — highest redeemable amount.

  5. Enter the Discount value (monetary amount).

  6. Adjust optional common settings such as lifetime, combinations, or tags.

  7. Upload a Reward icon, set Status to Enabled, and click Save.

⚠️ Important

When Shopify POS is selected as a channel, only Fixed discounts are supported.

Percentage discount

Lets customers redeem points for a percentage off their total order.

How to set up

  1. Go to Rewards → Points → Ways to redeem → Add way to redeem → Percentage discount.

  2. Enter a Title, e.g. 10% off your order.

  3. Define the Points price — number of points required.

  4. Choose Reward type:

    • Fixed discount — one set percentage (e.g., 1,000 points = 10% off).

    • Variable discount — flexible increments (e.g., 100 points = 1% off).
      When Variable is selected, set:

      • Minimum points expendable value.

      • Maximum points expendable value.

  5. Enter the Discount value (%).

  6. Adjust optional common settings.

  7. Upload a Reward icon, set Status to Enabled, and click Save.

⚠️ Important

Each Free product reward must be linked to a specific product.

Storefront display

In the Rewards pop-up and Rewards page, the selected product title appears after a customer clicks on the Free product reward card. For consistency, it’s recommended to use the product title as the rule title in your admin setup.

By default, the reward card displays the following text under the Free product reward title:
“Get a free product for {{points}} {{points_name}}.”

If you set a custom discount value (for example, 50% off instead of 100%), you may want to change this wording:

  1. Go to Branding → Languages.

  2. Search for the phrase “Get a free product for”.

  3. Replace it with your preferred text for both Rewards pop-up and Rewards page Ways to spend points.

How customers can claim a free product

  1. Open the Rewards pop-up.

  2. Scroll to the How to spend points section.

  3. Find the Free product reward.

  4. Click Redeem.

  5. Click Checkout to complete the process.

  4. (Optional) Restrict access using customer tags.

  5. Upload a Reward icon, set Status to Enabled, and click Save.

Customer experience

  • Their credit balance is displayed under the points balance in both the Rewards page and the pop-up widget.

  • At checkout, customers see an Apply store credit option. When applied, the full available credit balance is used toward the order total.

⚠️ Important

  • Store credit is supported only in your shop’s base currency and is not available on Shopify POS.

  • If the currency of the selected market matches the shop’s base currency in Shopify, the balance displays and can be used.

  • If the market operates in a different currency, the Store credit balance will show 0, and customers won’t be able to use it at checkout.

  • Store credit is fully managed by Shopify and doesn’t support multi-currency transactions.
