Growave Customers section overview

Manage customer details, including VIP status, referrals, points balance, order history, and more for effective account management

Written by Simon Akhrameev

The Customers section in the Growave admin panel is divided into two primary areas: the general Customers list and individual Customer profiles. It provides a comprehensive view of each shopper's loyalty activity, including their current points balance, VIP Tier status, referral history, submitted reviews, and saved wishlist items. From the general list, merchants can search and filter their entire user base. Within individual profiles, they can manually adjust points balances, redeem rewards on behalf of customers, and manage specific records without leaving the Growave dashboard.

Key benefits / use cases

Main window features

Customer search

In the main Customers window, search through the customer database by name or email to quickly locate specific profiles.

Growave - Customers

View VIP Tier and Referral status

Instantly see each customer’s VIP Tier and Referral program status.

Apply filters

Use the Add filter button to refine your customer list based on loyalty data, tags, or reward status.

The following filter types are available in the Customers section:

Points balance

Filter customers based on their current loyalty points balance. Available conditions include:

  • All — shows all customers, regardless of balance.

  • Is equal — matches an exact points value.

  • Is greater than — shows customers with a higher balance than the specified value.

  • Less than — shows customers with a lower balance than the specified value.

  • Between — filters customers whose balance falls within a specified range.

VIP tiers

Display customers according to their assigned VIP tier. You can filter by your existing tier names or select No tier to view customers within a particular group.

Filter by tag

Search for customers with a specific customer tag by typing the tag name into the input field.

Users with unclaimed rewards

Show customers who have at least one redeemed but unused reward. This includes any discount, gift card, or other reward issued through the Growave Rewards program but not yet applied to an order.

Combined filters

You can combine multiple filters to get more specific results. For example:

  • VIP Tier = Gold + Points balance > 500 → high-value loyal customers

  • Filter by tag + Points balance → narrow down tagged customer groups based on their available points.

  • VIP tier + Users with unclaimed rewards → focus on customers in a particular VIP tier who have redeemed rewards but haven’t applied them yet.

Activity section

Below the initial profile information, you’ll find the Activity section. This area contains tabs to view and manage specific interactions between the customer and your store:

  • Points: View the customer's activity history, including Points and Store credit balance changes. This tab displays the same data structure as the Analytics Activity log (Action, Reward, Balance, Date) and includes management features:

    • Balance history: See exactly when points or store credits were earned or spent.

      • Rewardable info modal: For Placed order events, you can click the point value in the Balance column (e.g., +10 Points) to see a detailed log of how those points were calculated, including applied multipliers and exclusions. Note: Rewardable amount details are only stored for three months after the order's last update. For older orders, this link will not be visible and the point value will not be clickable.

    • Manage rewards: Click on a generated Reward code in the "Reward" column to refund the points to the customer (provided the discount code has not been used in Shopify yet or expired).

⚠️ Important

Refunds only return the original points redeemed for a discount. If you change the point cost of a reward after the customer redeemed it (e.g., increasing a reward cost from 100 to 500 points), the refund will still only return the original 100 points.

  • Referrals: Track completed referrals, including detailed information on each referral’s status and any related rewards.

  • VIP Tiers: Access the history of VIP Tier changes for the customer, as well as any rewards associated with tier upgrades or downgrades.

  • Rewards: View active, deleted, and used rewards associated with the customer’s account. This includes discounts and other special perks.

  • Reviews: See the list of reviews left by the customer, complete with ratings and review dates.

  • Wishlist: Browse items added to the customer’s wishlist, providing insight into the products they’re interested in.

  • Gift registry: Browse items added to the customer’s Gift registry, providing insight into the products want to receive as gifs for special occasions.

Order history

Below the Activity section, you’ll find the Order history, which provides a detailed view of the customer's previous purchases.

Growave - Customers - Customer Profile - Order history

Each order entry includes:

  • Order number: A unique identifier for each order with an active link to the Shopify order page.

  • Total: The full amount spent by the customer on the order.

  • Rewardable: The portion of the total amount that was eligible for rewards points. Learn more about rewardable amount settings.

  • Date: The date the order was placed.

  • Payment status: Displays whether the order payment was completed, pending, or refunded.

Sidebar

In the right sidebar of the Customer profile section, you’ll find a unified Details block containing contact information, birth date, referral link, manual reward redemption section, and marketing status toggles.

Growave - Customers - Customer Profile - Details
  • Contact details: Displays the customer’s contact information, including email address and phone number if available.

  • Birthday: Shows the customer’s birth date if it has been provided. You can set and/or edit this information as needed, but cannot delete the client's birth date.

  • Referral link: Shows a unique referral link assigned to the customer, which they can share to refer new users to your store.

  • Redeem reward: Allows manually redeeming rewards for the customer.

  • Marketing status: Indicates the customer’s subscription status for marketing communications:

  • Email and SMS subscription status: Displays whether the customer has opted in to receive email and/or SMS marketing.

How to manually redeem a reward

You can exchange points for rewards on behalf of a customer directly from their profile in Growave admin panel:

  1. Navigate to the Customers menu and select a customer profile.

  2. Find the Redeem reward section in the right sidebar.

  3. Click the dropdown to select from the available rewards (displays the title, discount nominal, and point cost).

  4. Click Redeem reward.

  5. The generated discount code will appear directly above the Redeem reward section. You can copy this code to share with the customer.

⚠️ Important

  • If a customer has 0 points or not enough points for any reward at the time you open this page, the Redeem reward section will be hidden. If you manually add the required number of points to their balance, you must refresh the page for this section to appear.

  • If you don't have active redemption rules, the the Redeem reward section will be hidden.

  • If you perform multiple redemptions consecutively, the interface will only display the most recent discount code rather than adding new lines.

  • All manual redemptions are logged in the Points tab in the Activity section with (Manual by Admin) note.

How do I unsubscribe a customer from emails?

You can unsubscribe a customer directly in Growave:

  1. In Growave admin, go to Customers.

  2. Find the customer.

  3. Under Marketing status in the right sidebar switch off the toggle button.

The customer will be marked as Email unsubscribed and won’t receive further marketing emails from your store.

Can I delete a customer from Growave?

No, Growave doesn’t provide a manual delete option for customer records.

Because our database is fully synchronized with Shopify, deleting a customer in Shopify admin → Customers → More actions → Delete customer will automatically remove them from Growave as well.

📘 Note

Depending on Shopify's webhook synchronization speed, there may be a short delay before the deleted customer fully disappears from your Growave Customers list. As long as they are deleted in Shopify, no further action is needed on your end — their data will clear from Growave shortly.

Do customers get added to Growave if they submit their email through a third-party pop-up?

Growave does not capture emails directly from third-party pop-ups. However, because Growave's database is fully synchronized with your Shopify Customers list, whether a customer is added to Growave depends entirely on how your pop-up app interacts with Shopify.

How the sync works:

  1. The pop-up action: A visitor submits their email address into a third-party pop-up (such as a newsletter signup or discount wheel).

  2. Shopify integration: If the third-party app is configured to automatically create a new customer profile in your Shopify admin → Customers list, Shopify will register the user.

  3. Growave sync: Once the new profile is successfully created in Shopify, that data will be synced with Growave, and the customer will then appear in your Growave admin.

When a customer will NOT be added: If your third-party pop-up app only sends the email address to an external email marketing platform and does not create a customer record in Shopify, Growave will not receive the data, and no profile will be created in your rewards program.
