How to use Wishlist analytics

Track the performance of your Wishlist app, customer engagement, and revenue generation.

Written by Simon Akhrameev

Overview

The Wishlist Analytics dashboard provides a comprehensive view of how your customers are interacting with the Wishlist feature. It helps you track revenue generated directly from wishlists, monitor customer activity, evaluate the performance of your automated emails, and measure the success of your "Save Wishlist" popups.

Key benefits / use cases

  • Measure overall ROI: Track the exact revenue generated from Wishlist interactions and identify your top-performing conversion channels.

  • Monitor customer engagement: See exactly how many items are being actively added, purchased, or removed from customer wishlists.

  • Evaluate email performance: Understand how effectively your automated Wishlist notifications drive customers back to your store to complete purchases.

  • Attribute revenue sources: Clearly differentiate between sales driven by on-site Wishlist widgets versus automated email campaigns.

Understanding the dashboard

Filtering data by date

Before analyzing your metrics, define the specific time period you want to view using the date selector at the top left. The selected period is applied to all metrics in this page:

  • Quick select: Choose a predefined range (e.g., 30, 60, 90 days).

  • Custom range: Click the date fields to select a specific start and end date (Format: YYYY-MM-DD), then click Apply.

Top metrics cards

These four cards give you a high-level snapshot of your overall performance:

  • Revenue from Wishlists: The total value of orders generated through wishlist interactions.
Note: Wishlist revenue is tracked by browser session. A purchase is attributed to the wishlist only if the customer is logged in during the same session in which they added the item(s) to their wishlist. Guests can add items to a wishlist (storefront process depends on the Guest wishlist settings), but if they check out without logging in first, that revenue cannot be linked to them and will not appear in this metric.

  • Customers with Wishlists: The number of customers who have added at least one item to a wishlist at least once. Customers with an empty (default) wishlist are not counted.

  • Items added to Wishlists: The cumulative number of products customers have added to their wishlists. This count includes all additions and does not subtract items that are later removed.

  • Email revenue: The specific portion of revenue generated from Wishlist notification emails.

Customer Wishlist Activity

This section breaks down how customers are actively managing their lists:

  • Items added: The number of items added to wishlists within the selected period. This includes both manual additions on the storefront and items added via CSV imports. If an item is later removed from a wishlist, it is subtracted from this count.

  • Items purchased: The total quantity of wishlist items bought. If a customer has one item in their wishlist but changes the quantity to 3 during checkout, it will count as 3 items purchased.

  • Items removed: The total number of items removed from wishlists. This includes items manually deleted by the customer, as well as items automatically removed by the system after a purchase (if the corresponding setting is enabled).

  • Net growth: This metric displays the number of currently active items sitting in wishlists.

  • Items worth: Total value of items purchased via Wishlist interactions (regardless of whether these items were purchased by logged-in customers or guests).

Revenue Channels

This section helps you attribute sales to the right source:

  • Emails: Revenue generated from customers clicking through wishlist emails.

    • How email revenue is calculated: If a customer receives a wishlist notification, clicks any link within that email (except "unsubscribe"), and then purchases items from their wishlist, the total sum of those items is counted as Email Revenue. The purchase must be made by the same customer who received the email.

  • Converted from widgets: Revenue generated when a customer adds an item via the on-site Wishlist widgets (Add to Wishlist button for product pages and Add to wishlist icons for product cards) and later purchases it. The same session-based login rule applies (see the note under Revenue from Wishlists).

  • Total Revenue: The sum of both Email and Widget revenue.

Save Wishlist Popup

This section tracks the performance of the Save Wishlist popup that prompts unregistered users to save their lists:

  • Impressions: The total number of times the Save Wishlist popup was displayed to guest users.

  • Emails captured: The number of email addresses successfully collected through the popup.

  • Guest subscribed: The number of those captured guests who also opted-in to receive Items on sale and Back in stock notifications.

  • Emails sent: The number of automated Saved wishlist notifications sent to these captured addresses, prompting them to return to their saved list.

  • Revenue: The total sales generated from users who returned and purchased via Saved wishlist notifications.

Email Performance

Track the effectiveness of your automated campaigns. This table displays data for notifications such as "Saved wishlist notification," "Wishlist item on sale," and "Wishlist items back in stock."

  • Sent: Number of emails sent.

  • Opened: Number of emails opened by customers.

  • Conversion: The percentage of recipients who made a purchase after clicking the email.

  • Revenue: The total sales attributed to that specific Wishlist notification type.
