Integrating Growave with Connectif

Connectif integration allows you to sync customer data and automate loyalty, reviews, and wishlist communications.

Written by Simon Akhrameev

Overview

This guide walks you through the integration between Growave and Connectif, an AI-powered omnichannel marketing automation platform. By the end of this guide, you'll be able to connect the two platforms, understand which customer data and event triggers Growave sends to Connectif, and use them to build automated workflows and personalized emails for your loyalty, reviews, and wishlist communications.

Before you start

Before connecting Growave, you need:

  1. An active Connectif account. If you don't have one, sign up at connectif.ai.

  2. Your Shopify store connected to Connectif. This is required — you must install and configure the Connectif app for Shopify before enabling the Growave integration. This also lets Connectif receive your product catalog, purchases, and web tracking data, which powers product blocks in emails, abandoned-cart recovery, and behavioral targeting in your workflows. Follow Connectif's Guide to Integrating with Shopify.

How to connect Growave with Connectif

  1. In Connectif, navigate to Store Settings → API and IP Access → API Keys and click Create new API Key.

Connectif - Store Settings - API Keys - Create API key
  2. Name the key (e.g., "Growave Integration") and activate all Read and Write permissions across the scopes. Click Save and copy the generated API Key.

  3. In the Growave admin panel, go to the Integrations section, open the Connectif card.

  4. Paste your API Key into the Private API Key field and click Enable. Growave will automatically establish the integration, syncing your contacts and their associated contact fields.

    Growave - Integrations - Connectif
  5. Growave will also automatically create the necessary Custom Events in Connectif. You can then use these custom events inside Connectif workflows to automate your communications.

  6. Select which Growave apps should forward their email triggers to Connectif:

    • Reviews: Growave stops sending Review request emails directly and forwards triggers to Connectif.

    • Rewards: Growave stops sending Rewards program emails directly and forwards triggers to Connectif.

    • Wishlist: Growave stops sending Wishlist emails directly and forwards triggers to Connectif instead.

  7. Verify the connection in Connectif by navigating to SettingsIntegrationsCustom Integrations (webhooks). You should see the Growave card (Growave Loyalty & Rewards). Click Edit to open it.

Connectif - Store Settings - Custom Integrations - Growave
  8. In the Receive Data tab, you will find the 14 inbound events created by Growave. In the Workflow Nodes tab, you will find the ready-made nodes for your workflows.

⚠️ Important

If an app is not selected in step 6, its emails will continue to be sent through Growave, while customer data is still shared with Connectif for segmentation purposes.

📘 Notes

  • Custom events creation and contact fields syncing between platforms does not occur instantly and may take around 20-30 minutes depending on the size of the customer base.

  • The Growave email editor for the selected apps' notifications remains accessible even while the Connectif integration is active.

  • Relevant notifications must be enabled in Growave admin panel to trigger events in Connective. Lear more about Growave notifications.

Synced customer data (contact fields)

Once enabled, Growave syncs your customers to Connectif as Contacts (identified by email) and creates the corresponding contact fields. If a customer doesn't exist in Connectif yet, Growave creates the contact automatically.

  • To view contact fields synced from Growave, navigate to the Connectif dashboard Audience Contact fields Custom fields.

Connectif dashboard → Audience → Contact fields → Custom fields
  • To view individual customer data, go to Connectif dashboard Audience Contacts, click Details (Pen icon) next to the contact, and select the Custom fields tab.

Connectif dashboard → Audience → Contacts - Details - Custom fields

The following contact fields are created and synced by Growave:

⚠️ Important

Any updates in Growave (e.g., a change in Point Balance) are reflected in Connectif in real time. Changes made in Connectif do not affect data in Growave.

Triggers (custom events)

When you enable the integration, Growave automatically creates its event types in Connectif as custom events (via Connectif's custom integration mechanism). Each customer action in Growave fires the corresponding event to Connectif in real time, where it can start a workflow.

  • You can view all inbound events in Connectif under Settings → Integrations → Custom Integrations (webhooks) → Growave → Edit → Receive Data tab.

Connectif - Store settings - Custom Integrations - Growave - Receive data
  • To see the exact data fields each trigger carries, click Edit (Pen icon) next to the event name under the Actions column.

You can also view data fields in the Workflow node:

  1. Add the node to a workflow in the workflow editor.

  2. Click the Settings (⚙️) icon on the node, and open the Data tab.

  3. There you'll find all Imported data from Shopify and Growave and specifically Exported data pertinent to this event, which you can map into your emails and content.

Workflow nodes created by Growave

For every event, Growave's integration generates three ready-made workflow nodes. You can review them under the Workflow Nodes tab of the Growave custom integration, and in the workflow editor they appear in the Toolbox under the Growave group of the Triggers, Conditions, and Actions tabs respectively:

Node type

Name pattern

What it does

Trigger

Trigger Earned Points, etc.

Starts a workflow the moment the event is received. Use it as the entry point of your automation.

Condition

Condition Earned Points, etc.

Branches a workflow based on the event — e.g., check whether a contact has (or hasn't) triggered the event.

Action (Getter)

Getter Earned Points, etc.

Fetches the data of the contact's last event of that type mid-workflow, so you can use it in later nodes and content.

Most merchants will use the Trigger node as the entry point of a workflow. The Condition and Getter (Action) nodes are optional building blocks for more advanced journeys — use them if and when your automation needs them. The trigger node exposes the event's data fields, which you can:

  • Map into email/SMS/push content via variables.

  • Write into contact fields via the Set field node.

  • Use in workflow conditions.

📘 Note

Trigger nodes generated by API custom events have no web context, so the Show web content node cannot be used directly after them (per Connectif's documentation).

Creating workflows with Growave triggers

Connectif automations are built in the Workflow editor — a drag-and-drop canvas of trigger, condition, and action nodes.

Here's how to build a workflow for the Earned Points trigger:

  1. In Connectif, go to WorkflowsCreate workflowCreate custom workflow.

Connectif - Workflows - Create workflow - Create custom workflow
  2. In the Toolbox panel, open the Triggers tab and scroll to the Growave group — all 14 Growave triggers are listed there. Drag the trigger you need (e.g., Trigger Earned Points) onto the canvas.

Connectif - Workflow - Add Growave trigger
  3. Click the Settings (⚙️) icon on the node and open the Data tab to review all the data available after this trigger — the contact's fields and the event's payload fields.

  4. In the Toolbox panel, open the Action tab, drag a Send email node onto the canvas and connect it after the trigger node.

  5. Click the Settings (⚙️) icon on the Send email node. The node is configured in a 3-step wizard, shown at the top: 1 Email → 2 Configuration → 3 Mappings.

Connectif - Workflows - Add Send email action - Edit

  6. In the Email step, select an existing email design or click Create new content to design one in the email editor (see the Templates section below). Click Next.

  7. In the Configuration step, set the recipients, the email type, and the sending parameters (subject, sender name, sender email, reply-to).

  8. Choose Transactional under Select the email type if the notification should reach all contacts with an active email address (recommended for loyalty notifications such as earned points or review requests), or Newsletter to send only to contacts whose newsletter status is "Subscribed". Consult your legal/compliance guidelines when deciding which of your notifications qualify as transactional. Click Next.

Connective - Send email action - step 2 Configure email
  9. In the Mappings step, link the data to your email's variables: drag each field from the data available from previous nodes (left column, including the Growave trigger's fields) onto the slot next to the corresponding variable (right column). Click Apply.

Connectif - Workflow - Send email - step 3 Mappings
  10. Save the workflow and click Start to activate it.

Repeat this pattern for each of the 14 triggers you want to automate. The same trigger nodes can also start SMS (Send SMS node) or push notification (Show push node) sequences — a key advantage of Connectif's omnichannel approach.

📘 Note

You can also add Wait nodes, Check field conditions, or coupon nodes between the trigger and the send action to build more advanced journeys.

Personalizing emails with Growave data

Connectif handles personalization using variables: you define a variable in the content, then map data to it in the sending node. See What are variables and how to use them.

Using event data (per-send personalization)

  1. In the Connectif email editor, add or edit a Text element.

  2. Click the Variables button, set a Variable identifier (e.g., pointsEarned), optionally a Default value and Data type (Number, Date, Currency, Percentage), and add new variable into the text.

  3. Alternatively, declare variables using {{variableId}} syntax right inside the Text element (e.g., "You just earned points! Your current balance is: {{currentBalance}}"). They will be auto-detected in the Mapping step.

Connectif - Workflow - Sen email action - Edit email - Text - Declare variables
  4. In the workflow's Send email node (the Mappings step), drag the corresponding field from the Growave trigger node's data onto the variable.

Tips

  • Give each variable the same identifier as the payload field it maps to, so the Mappings step becomes a simple 1:1 match.

  • Don't turn static values into variables, so only the truly per-customer data needs mapping.

  • Save finished emails as templates (Create Template from this Content) to reuse the design across similar workflows.

Using contact fields (profile personalization)

Growave's synced contact fields (Point Balance, Tier Title, Referral Link, etc.) come from the contact profile and can be mapped to variables the same way — in the Send email node, the contact's data from the Start/Trigger node appears in the left column.

Conditional content blocks

In the email editor, you can show or hide any block based on a contact field value, for example, show a VIP banner only when Tier Title equals "Gold" — or based on segment membership.

  1. Hover over the specific email block you want to show or hide conditionally.

  2. Click the Add Condition button that appears.

  3. Choose Contact Fields as your condition type.

  4. Select the specific field, the comparison operator, and the value the field must contain for that block to display.

  5. Click Apply to save your settings.

Segmentation with Growave data

Connectif's segments let you target customers using Growave's synced contact fields:

  1. Go to Audience → Segments and create a new segment (use Dynamic or Dynamic Plus for real-time updating segments).

Connective - Audience - Segments - Create segment - Dynamic
  2. In the Conditions dropdown menu, scroll to the Custom fields.

  3. Add conditions based on Growave contact fields, for example:

    • Rewards Program equals 1 — loyalty program participants.

    • Point Balance greater than 1000 — customers ready to redeem.

    • Tier Title equals Gold — VIP tier members.

    • Pending Reviews Count greater than 0 — customers with unreviewed purchases.

  4. Use the segment in workflows (e.g., as an entry condition), bulk campaigns, or conditional email blocks.

Dynamic Plus segments can also filter by activities related to the Growave custom integration — e.g., contacts who triggered a given Growave event in a time window. See Connectif's segmentation docs.

Email templates

⚠️ Important

Connectif does not support importing external HTML template files.

You must build your emails directly in Connectif using one of the following methods:

  • Drag-and-drop editor: Compose emails from Text, Image, Button, Products, and other blocks, adding variables for Growave data as described above. Save your design as a template to reuse it across workflows.

  • HTML block: Paste custom HTML into an HTML element, declare variables using {{variableId}} syntax, and map them in the Send email node's Mappings step. Variables typed inside the HTML are auto-detected in the editor's Variables tab.

  • Connectif templates: Use Connectif's pre-built designs located in the Templates tab.

  • Global blocks: Save headers, footers, or a "your points balance" block once and reuse them across all emails.

FAQ

Do I need the Connectif Shopify app for this integration to work?

Yes. You must install and configure the Connectif app for Shopify before enabling the Growave integration.

What happens to Growave's own emails when I enable the integration?

For each app you enable (Reviews, Rewards, Wishlist) within the integration settings, Growave stops sending those emails and forwards the trigger to Connectif instead. It is recommended to build and start your Connectif workflows before enabling the app toggles in Growave to avoid gaps in communication.

Will customers receive emails if they're not subscribed to the newsletter in Connectif?

This depends on the email type selected in your Send email node. Transactional emails are sent to all contacts with an active email address, while Newsletter emails go only to contacts with a "Subscribed" status.

Is data synced both ways?

No. Data only syncs from Growave to Connectif. Changes made to contact fields in Connectif are not sent back to Growave and may be overwritten by the next sync.
