Overview
This guide explains how to prevent customers from applying Growave reward discounts to products that already have a reduced "Compare at" price in Shopify.
Create an automated collection in Shopify
Because Shopify handles "Compare at" prices directly on the product page rather than as active discount codes, you first need to create a backend collection that isolates your regular-priced items.
In your Shopify admin, navigate to Products → Collections.
Click Add collection.
Enter an internal-facing title (e.g., "Non-discounted products").
Under the Collection type section, select Smart.
In the Conditions section, configure the rule exactly as follows: Compare at price = is empty.
Click Save.

Ensure this collection is not linked to your storefront navigation menus so it remains strictly an internal utility.
Restrict the reward in Growave
Now that Shopify is automatically maintaining a list of your non-discounted items, you can restrict Growave rewards exclusively to this group. Because this setting applies anywhere you offer an Amount or Percentage discount, you can configure it across your Points, VIP Tiers, and Referral programs.
Open the Growave admin panel and navigate to the specific reward rule you want to restrict. This could be located in:
Rewards → Points → Ways to redeem (for points exchange rewards).
Rewards → Points → Ways to earn (if offering direct discounts for actions like reviews or birthdays).
Rewards → VIP Tiers (for tier entry rewards).
Rewards → Referrals (for referring customer or referred friend rewards).
Select or edit the specific Amount discount or Percentage discount rule you want to restrict.
Scroll down to the Applies to section. If you don' see this section, click More options.
Choose Selected collections.
Search for and select the "Non-discounted products" collection you created in Step 1.
Click Save.
How smart collection will work with Growave discounts
Whenever a "Compare at" price is added to a product for a sale, Shopify automatically removes it from the "Non-discounted products" collection. Growave recognizes this update, blocking reward discounts at checkout. Once the sale concludes and the "Compare at" price is cleared, the product automatically rejoins the eligible pool.
⚠️ Important Shopify handles product changes asynchronously, meaning updates to automated collections may not occur instantly. When you add a "Compare at" price to a product, it may take a short amount of time for Shopify to process the change and remove the discounted product from the collection.
