How to add a discount code to Wishlist emails
Step 1: Create the right discount in Shopify
First, you need to create a new discount code in Shopify specifically for Wishlist notifications.
⚠️ Important
Growave-generated discounts (such as those earned through actions or redeemed for points) are personalized and not suitable for Wishlist emails. You must create a new, dedicated discount code in Shopify for this purpose.
In your Shopify admin, navigate to Discounts and click Create discount.
Select a store-wide discount type, such as Amount off order (e.g., "$10 off") or Free shipping. These types do not require selecting specific products or collections, ensuring they apply to any item in the customer’s wishlist.
Name the code clearly (e.g.,
WISHLIST10).Apply any additional settings (e.g., "Minimum purchase amount" or "Usage limits").
Copy the code and click Save.
⚠️ Important
If you create a discount limited to specific products or collections, it will not apply to wishlist items outside those conditions. This will lead to customer confusion or missed conversions.

If you use any restrictions for such Shopify discounts, like a minimum purchase amount, usage limit, or shipping exclusions, ensure you mention them clearly in the Wishlist email template so customers understand the conditions upfront.
Step 2: Add the discount code in Growave
Once your Shopify code is created, you can link it to your Growave emails.
In the Growave admin panel, go to Wishlist and click Notifications.
Click on the notification title you want to edit (e.g., Saved wishlist notification, 2nd saved wishlist reminder, or 3rd saved wishlist reminder).
Locate the Discount code dropdown under the Body section.
Paste your code name into the search field and select your newly created discount.
Click Save changes.
How the discount is applied
When customers click a product card or “Continue shopping” button under their saved products in the Wishlist reminder email, Growave redirects them to your store with the discount automatically applied to their session.
✅ Tip
The discount code text inside the email is not clickable — it only appears as plain text. To avoid confusion, add a short explanatory line above it in the email body (e.g., "Enjoy this special discount — it will be automatically applied when you return to your wishlist").
Best practices for Wishlist campaigns
Use discount codes strategically, based on Wishlist performance data from Growave:
Go to Wishlist → Manage Wishlist to see Trending wishlisted products.
Go to Wishlist → Notifications to check how many emails were sent, opened, and converted in the last 30 days.
Go to Analytics → Wishlist to get deeper insights on Wishlist revenue, customer wishlist activity, and Wishlist emails performance.
