Using Growave variables in Omnisend

⚠️ Important

If you're using Growave’s pre-designed templates, you don’t need to worry about variables — they are already embedded within the email text. However, if you plan to create custom email templates, it’s essential to understand that Omnisend uses its own variable templating system. Variables in Growave emails follow this format: [[event.VARIABLE_NAME]].

Variables used in notifications

Each notification in Omnisend relies on specific variables to personalize content. Below is a detailed breakdown of notifications and their associated variables:

Birthday reward

  • customerName: Customer's name.

  • shopUrl: URL of your shop.

  • shopName: Name of your shop.

  • reward: Indicates the type of reward — either "reward" or "points," depending on your rewards configuration.

  • rewardCode: Discount code for the reward.

  • rewardPoints: Number of points given to the user. Used only when reward is equal to "points."

  • buttonUrl: Link to the rewards page or a page where the discount code can be applied, depending on your settings.

  • rewardExpirationDate: Expiration date of the discount code. If no expiration date is set, this variable will be NULL.


Points earned

  • customerName

  • shopUrl

  • shopName

  • currentBalance: Customer's current points balance.

  • pointsName: Refers to "points."

  • reward: Contains the value "points."

  • completedAction: Actions for which the user earned points (e.g., Create account, Leave review, Buy X get Y).

  • buttonUrl: Link to the rewards page.

  • rewardPoints: Number of points earned for the action.


Reward for Referred friend

Former notification title: Friend received referral

  • customerName

  • shopUrl

  • shopName

  • rewardCode: Discount code for the referral reward.

  • availableRewardTitle: Title of the reward, e.g., "Referral Discount."

  • buttonUrl

  • rewardExpirationDate


Points expiration

  • customerName

  • shopUrl

  • shopName

  • currentBalance

  • pointsName: Refers to "points."

  • buttonUrl

  • expirationDate: Date by which points must be redeemed.


Tier unlocked

  • customerName

  • tierName: Name of the tier achieved.


Reward received

  • rewardCode

  • availableRewardTitle: Title of the redeemed reward.

Reward for Referring customer

Former notification title: Referral completed

  • customerName

  • shopUrl

  • shopName

  • availableRewardTitle: Title of the reward earned for a completed referral.


These variables can be placed in the emails via the template editor. Add new block, click {...} button and choose Custom properties or Automation events:
