Automate review requests: quick guide
The Reviews app can automatically send review request emails after a specified number of days or at an optimal time set by default. You can configure email templates and request timing in the Reviews → Notifications section.

Getting started
You can enable or disable review reminders (if you disable the first request, the remaining two reminders will become inactive) and set your own notification period between them. The campaign stops sending reminders as soon as customers leave a review.
NOTE:
The Review request emails are sent if the following conditions are met:
- The order status is fulfilled.
- The customer is subscribed to the newsletter and receives all marketing emails.
- The order was made through Shopify and its channels.
- The customer has not yet left a review for the specific order or product.
Change email templates
In the Reviews → Notifications section, click the review request email or reminder title to open the editor, where you can change the review request template, including email language, banner image, subject, body, reward message, and button text:

button and enter your email address to see the result:
Below is an example of a review request customers receive by email. It includes template text, up to five products with "Write a review" buttons, and a message detailing the rewards for leaving a review.
NOTE: If you use Omnisend or Klaviyo integrations to send review request emails, these emails will include only the most expensive product from the customer's purchase.
Upon clicking the "Write a review" button, customers will be redirected to your website, where they can post a review in a pop-up window:
Set custom domain for email notifications
In the Growave admin panel, navigate to Settings → General to set the email address from which review requests will be sent. Don't forget to verify your email address; you will find the verification letter in your mailbox.
Exclude customers from review request emails
If you have a customer who doesn't want to receive review request emails, or you simply don't want to send requests to certain customers, you can add the tag disable-growave-review-request
. Customers with this tag will not receive review request emails.
You can add the tag to a user from the Customers section in your Shopify dashboard:
Once you add the tag, please inform us so we can verify and adjust the settings on our end to ensure the user is excluded from receiving review request emails.
Exclude products from review request emails
If you do not want to send review request emails for specific products, you can exclude them in the Reviews → Settings → General tab → Collect Reviews.
Also, add the same tag in the Shopify Dashboard:
- Go to Products.
- Choose the product you want to exclude.
- Add the exclusion tag under Tags in the Product organization sidebar.
Delay review requests for Shopify POS orders
If the order was placed through the Shopify POS app, Growave sends the review request 2 hours after the purchase by default.
NOTE: If you prefer not to use the accelerated review request sending for POS purchases, Growave offers a hidden setting to disable this feature. This setting can be adjusted for free by our developers from the back end.
