Import customer data to Growave's Rewards Program
If you're transitioning to Growave's Rewards program and need to import customer data from another loyalty app within Shopify, this guide will help you. Follow the steps below to import your customers' points, VIP tiers, and birthday data into Growave to maintain customer engagement and continue boosting sales.
Prepare and import customers' data
To import customer data, you should already have these customers in your shop database. If you want to import data for new customers too, you must add them to Shopify first.
Step 1. Navigate to the Customers section in your Shopify admin panel and add or import customers to your store.

Step 2. Go to Growave admin panel → Import/Export → Rewards and download a CSV template:
Step 3. Fill in the template with relevant customer data:
NOTE: You can include all data types (points, VIP tiers, and birthdays) in your CSV file, but only one type can be imported at a time. To import another data type, use the same file and select the corresponding import type for each operation.

How to find customer ID
In your Shopify admin panel, go to the Customers section, select the customer, and copy the number string after the slash sign at the end of the customer's profile URL:
Step 4. Choose the import type. Rewards import feature has 3 import types to select from:
- Points:
- Add points to the customer's current balance.
- Reset customers' balances and set the exact point value indicated in the file.
- VIP Tiers: Update your customers' VIP Tier status.
- Birthdays: Add birth dates to your customer accounts.
Step 5. Go through the validation process.
If the validation process is unsuccessful, you won't be able to proceed with the import. However, you can download the validation report to identify and correct errors in your CSV file:
Step 6. After successful validation, click Start import to proceed:
In case of skipped or invalid records, you can download a report to identify the issues. Despite the skipped or invalid records, you will still be able to complete the import for valid records:
Track import history
In the import history, you can review the details, including the date and time of import. The results display the total number of records, as well as imported, invalid, and skipped records. You can download a report of skipped records within a day of the import. If there are skipped records, the system prepares helpful tips on how to manage them.
If necessary, you can undo an import from the import history. Clicking Revert Import
will bring up a confirmation pop-up.
Once confirmed, the import status changes to Reverted
and cannot be clicked again. This action removes all data related to that import from the admin panel's activity tables and the activity history in the Rewards widget on the storefront.
