Reward customers in Growave when they leave a review in Judge.me.

While this article explains how to connect Judge.me reviews with Growave Custom actions via API, the simplest option is to use the built-in Growave Reviews app. It’s fully integrated with Rewards and does not require any API setup, webhooks, or extra maintenance.

If you still prefer Judge.me, you can automate rewarding customers for reviews through Growave’s API.

📘 Implementation note

This customization requires setting up webhook handling and API calls on the merchant’s end (for example, on their own server). In most cases, the setup is handled by the merchant’s development team, though our support team can provide guidance if needed.


Plan requirements

  • Growave: Plus plan (API access required for Custom actions).

  • Judge.me: Awesome plan (API & webhooks access).


How it works

  1. Create a Custom action in Growave

    • Go to RewardsWays to earn → click Add ways to earn → select Custom action.

    • Define the reward (e.g., points) and copy the API reference ID for API calls.

  2. Handle Judge.me review events

  3. Send event to Growave

    • Call the sendEvent endpoint with the Custom action key and the customer email to issue the reward → Growave Rewards API docs.


Review collection restrictions in Judge.me

When using Judge.me with Growave Custom actions, it’s important to ensure that only verified buyers can leave reviews. Otherwise, customers could exploit the system and earn rewards for guest reviews.

Judge.me lets you configure this under Publishing and moderation → Review restriction:

  • Only buyers who have received a review request email and API users (recommended for API integrations).

  • Or only buyers who have received a review request email (stricter).

By setting one of these restrictions, you make sure that only real customers (with valid orders) can trigger the reward flow in Growave.
