As part of our ongoing commitment to security and compliance, we permanently discontinued our own Social Login feature for both Growave 1.0 and Growave 2.0. This aligns with Shopify’s recommendation to use new customer accounts, which include social sign-in options.
Why switch to Shopify’s new customer accounts?
Shopify’s new system improves the customer experience while reducing store maintenance needs. Key benefits include:
Passwordless login: One-time 6-digit code sent to email; no password needed.
Auto account creation: Accounts are created when a customer logs in with their email.
Saved payment methods: Returning customers can check out faster.
Self-serve returns: Customers can initiate return requests directly from their account.
Buy again button: Makes reordering from past purchases easy.
B2B support: Full support for B2B customers (Shopify Plus only).
Language and regional settings: Adjusted based on the customer’s market.
Flexible branding: Controlled via your checkout settings, not theme.
Custom identity providers: Supports external authentication services.
Homepage redirection after login – Supported.
Limitations to keep in mind
No Liquid customizations: You can’t customize customer account pages using Liquid templates.
Multipass is not supported: Seamless login between websites and the store is not available.
App compatibility: Most apps work out of the box, but confirm any customer-facing app is compatible.
Workflow and automation rebuild: Custom workflows tied to legacy accounts may need to be recreated.
Legacy features won’t carry over: Any manual customizations made on legacy account pages won't transfer.
Redirection note: Most links to legacy accounts will automatically redirect to the new customer account pages.
Reverting: You can switch back to legacy accounts if needed, but we strongly recommend adopting the new system to future-proof your store.
