Integrating Growave with subscription apps

Learn how to enable the subscription apps integration to allow customers to earn points and redeem discounts on recurring purchases.

Overview

This integration allows you to connect the Growave Rewards app with your supported subscription app. Customers can earn points for subscription purchases and redeem rewards to apply discounts to their recurring orders.

  • Allow customers to seamlessly apply discount rewards to their active subscriptions.


Subscription app requirements

We support most subscription apps available on the Shopify App Store, with the following conditions:

  • The app must use Shopify Payments to process recurring payments

  • Legacy subscription apps that rely on their own payment processing are not supported


How to enable Subscription apps integration

  1. Make sure both Growave and a supported subscription app (such as Recharge or Appstle Subscriptions) are installed and fully set up.

  2. In the Shopify admin panel, ensure that a purchase option is assigned to your product:

    • Navigate to Products and open the product you want to configure.

    • Scroll down to the Purchase options section and configure the subscription plan.

      Note: The product must have at least one active purchase option for Growave to recognize it as a subscription item.

  3. In the Growave admin panel, go to Integrations. Find the Subscription apps card, click it, and then click Enable on the next page.

  4. In the Growave admin panel, go to Rewards → Points, click Add ways to redeem, and create a discount reward (e.g., Amount discount, Percentage discount, or Free shipping).

  5. When setting up the reward, choose one of the following purchase types:

    • One-time purchase: Discount applies only to non-subscription products.

    • Subscriptions: Discount applies only to subscription products.

    • Both: Discount applies to both one-time and subscription products.

⚠️ Important

  • Once you enable the Subscription apps integration, you cannot change the Purchase type settings on older, existing discount rules (the option will be greyed out). To change purchase types, you must create a brand-new spending rule from scratch.

  • If the integration is disabled, any rewards linked to subscription products will no longer be valid. You’ll need to create new rewards for non-subscription items.

  • If the subscription app is deleted, linked rewards are not automatically disabled. If a customer tries to redeem them, the reward will fail, and Growave will notify you by email with more details.
