How to create segments in Klaviyo with synced fields

What are the segments in Klaviyo?

Segments in Klaviyo are super important for targeted marketing efforts! They help businesses categorize and personalize their communication with customers based on specific criteria like demographics, behavior, and purchase history.

When you integrate with Growave, segments become even more powerful. This allows businesses to tailor their messages to each customer's preferences and interactions with loyalty programs, reviews, and rewards. This high level of customization boosts engagement, encourages loyalty, and drives conversions. That's why segments are a key tool for maximizing the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.


What fields are synced to Klaviyo

Once the integration is turned on from the admin panel, customer data synchronizes and is forwarded to Klaviyo. The following data is being transferred to Klaviyo from Growave. Please note that you should add it in the Custom Properties and it will appear on all the customer accounts.

There are two main ways to leverage your customer properties:

  1. Use them to segment subscribers for highly targeted emails.
  2. Add these attributes to your emails for the highest level of customization possible.

These are properties Growave sends over to Klaviyo to update the customer profile:

  • Accepts Marketing
  • BirthDate
  • Locale
  • PointsBalance
  • PointsExpirationDate
  • ReferralLink
  • RewardsProgram
  • RewardsProgramEnrolledDate
  • Shopify Tags
  • TierID
  • TierTitle
Once the customer's data changes in Growave, it will be updated in Klaviyo as well. As this data is related to the  Rewards app

Don't worry if you can't see the fields in Klaviyo right away after you integrate. The initial sync might take a moment to push all the properties, however, once it's done, fields will be pushed in real time.


How do you create segments in Klaviyo?

You can use the Custom properties to segment your customers. You can do this by following the below steps: 

Step 1. Navigate to the List & Segments section >> click on "Create New" >> choose "Create segment"

Step 2. Give your segment "Name" and select the definition for your segment

For example, you may choose a definition of "What someone has done (or not done)" and set one of the Growave metrics

Or choose one of the Custom properties synced from Growave

Step 3. Once you are satisfied with the definition you create, click "Create Segment".

Every segment consists of one or more conditions. You can select conditions based on who you'd like in the segment. For example, to create a segment of people who have taken a certain action, you'd use the condition What someone has done (or not done), then select the action (e.g., Placed order). What segments can be created using Growave data

Marketing Emails

Using Custom properties like Accept marketing, you can segment all clients subscribed to your marketing newsletter. This enables targeted communication about store updates, new arrivals, discounts, and more, fostering stronger engagement with your audience.


Points Balance

Another custom property, PointBalance, proves handy for reminding clients of accumulated points. For instance, if a client reaches 1000 points and falls into the "PointsBalance" segment, an email encouraging them to redeem their points could be sent, enhancing customer engagement and incentivizing purchases.


Rewards Program

Utilizing this segment, you can communicate with all customers enrolled in the loyalty program. You can inform them about new discounts, explain how they can utilize their rewards, and provide other relevant information. This practice enhances customer satisfaction and encourages repeat visits to your establishment.


Shopify Tags

Shopify tags are useful for creating segments in Klaviyo. Assign tags based on customer behavior to tailor marketing campaigns. Tagging customers by product categories enables targeted promotions. Identifying high-value customers through tags allows for personalized offers, and strengthening relationships. Utilizing Shopify tags enhances marketing precision, boosting engagement and loyalty.


Tier Title

You can utilize the custom property "TiersTitle" to segment individuals who have reached specific tiers, enabling targeted communication tailored to their achievements. This allows you to notify your customers about exclusive benefits, rewards, or promotions associated with their tier status, fostering engagement and appreciation for their loyalty.
